Instrument Directories for Projects

The Instrument Directories for Projects dialog allows users to change the location of Project directories for the instrument and the Audit Trail directory from the default location to any other desired location. These directory settings are shared across all users. To open this dialog, use the Directories… command or click the icon in the main Clarity window.

Installation Folder Structure

Clarity installation folder contains four directories:

  • Bin - Stores supporting *.dll files and other essential programs for proper functionality.
  • Cfg - Stores configuration files, including *.cfg, *.dsk, *.ini, *.psw and *.sno files. Also contains the Audit_Trails directory for daily logs, as well as BACK, Bug_Reports, Debug_Logs and IMAGES directories.
  • DataFiles - Stores project folders, the PROJECTS directory and the COMMON directory. All measured data is stored here by default.
  • Documentation - Contains documentation such as manuals, datasheets, and whatsnew.txt and about.txt files.

Instrument Directory for Projects

The Instrument Directory for Projects is the DataFiles folder. By default, this folder is located in the Clarity installation directory, but it can be redirected to any other location.

Inside the DataFiles folder, the PROJECTS directory contains a list of all available projects. Each project is represented by a *.prj file , which defines specific subdirectories for storing data. Within each project, there are further subdirectories used for organizing calibration and measurement data. Additionally, the COMMON directory stores shared report styles for all projects within the same DataFiles directory.

Note:

In the above image the Instrument 2 DataFiles folder is set to the network drive where can be accessed from different PCs.

Instrument Directories

The DataFiles directory can be set individually for each Instrument. Use the button to select the required directory. The directory name cannot contain following characters / : * ? " < > | and also cannot end with a space or a dot.

If the selected directory does not already contain a DataFiles structure, Clarity will prompt the user to create the necessary COMMON and PROJECTS subdirectories.
